Flower Photography by Derek Harris

Derek Harris is an Internationally recognised award-winning Photographer, Artist and Designer. His work is collected and exhibited in galleries in London, UK, Europe, USA and Cyprus.

Studied at the Central School of Art and Crafts and has worked for many years as a professional Flower, Garden, Landscape and Travel Photographer and more recently a Painter.

His stunning Studio Flower Portraits were Awarded four Royal Horticultural Society’s Gold Medals in 2002, 2003, 2004 and 2006 for excellence. The studies show glorious colours and great detail when viewed larger than life.

“Derek is inspired by the colours and beauty of nature. In his flower photography considerable time and attention is paid to the lighting of his subjects which are shot against a black background. Close examination reveals an extraordinary amount of detail and subtlety of texture and colour. The impact is such that the viewer feels as though the flower, although a familiar object, is being seen for the first time. His work is revelatory in the true sense, for his images are larger than life-size and compel us to look more closely

Mostly we look without seeing but with Harris’s work this is no longer possible”.
